MUSICIANS

Grand Island Mansion, Sacramento Delta

Millington Strings has played in the Sacramento area for some twenty years. We play together both commercially and socially, and individually play in local orchestras and ensembles. We also produce semi-annual concerts featuring favored string/wind/vocal ensemble literature. A little about each of us:
Christina Brice Dolanc, violin resides in Davis and has held the first violin position with Millington Strings since Fall of 2005. She has a Bachelor's from Missouri State University and a Master's from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her major in both degrees was violin performance, with emphasis on quartet playing at Miami, where she held a graduate assistantship as a member of the Graduate String Quartet. Christina runs a full violin lesson studio in her home, and performs with the Stockton Symphony, Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra and the Fresno Philharmonic. She enjoys oil painting, drawing, arranging for quartet, knitting and cross-stitching, as well as playing chamber music with her husband Chris, a cellist in his former life prior to becoming a botanist. They have a two-year-old daughter and a shaggy dog to keep them on their toes.
Suzan Tarkenton, violin, has been teaching piano and violin in El Dorado County since 1982. She is currently teaching the beginning string program at Cedar Springs Waldorf School in Placerville, and plays in the Folsom Lake Symphony. She holds a BA degree in Elementary Education with a music minor, and continues to teach private lessons in her home in Cameron Park. She is married, with three daughters and seven grandchildren. She loves to cook, do crafts and garden with her husband.
David Thorp, violin, viola earned his Master of Music degree in 1979 from Manhattan School of Music. He is an active soloist and section player in greater Sacramento area orchestras and ensembles.
Nicolay Neverov, violin, viola, and voice graduated from the State Music College, Tashkent, USSR. He is currently music director/conductor of the choir "Credo" at the Russian Baptist Church in West Sacramento. In 1996 he established a full violin, voice and piano studio, "The Golden Sound Music School".
Steve Millington, cello, received his Master's in Cello Performance at CSUS in 1997, studying with Andrew Luchansky. Playing credits include principal cello of Solano Community Symphony from 1988 to 1999, and principal cello of the Sacramento's Camellia Symphony from 2000 to 2002. He currently plays with the Stockton and North State Symphonies. He has arranged and composed a large repertoire of music for the group. He is also an unparalleled diagnostician of classic car maladies.
Anne Millington, cello, bass studied cello with Jean Maguire Mitchell in the San Francisco Bay Area. She practiced veterinary medicine in the Bay Area till 1995 and is now engaged in strategic planning and informatics with the California Department of Public Health. Her time and money sinks are Oliver and Garth, two large, friendly horses.

Kristi Matal, mezzo-soprano, has performed with the Millington Strings since 1995. A professional performer for over 20 years, she enjoys singing in a wide range of musical styles, and has recorded a CD of her original pop music entitled "Illumination." To Kristi, the chance to connect with other hearts through music is heaven on earth.
